On March 11, Li Jianquan, chairman of Winner Medical, donated ¥10 million to Wuhan Textile University. And this is the largest amount of donation the school has received since its establishment and will be used to support the construction of the campus’s basic research facilities.
“Only technology can deal with the ‘Black Swan Incidents’.” Li Jianquan said that technology, not marketing, can really respond quickly to environmental changes. According to his personal entrepreneurial experience and the development of stable medical care, technology has played a crucial role in reducing costs and improving benefits.
He further said that the cooperation between enterprises and scientific research institutes should look higher at the research and development level. At the same time, the company will make use of the school’s scientific research capabilities to move towards high-level technology, solve technical bottlenecks, fill market gaps, and meet market demand.
Li Jianquan is an alumnus of Wuhan Textile University in 1978. In 2014, he invested 500,000 yuan to set up the “Jianquan Scholarship” at Wuhan Textile University. In 2016, he donated 1 million yuan again to support the outstanding but financially difficult students of the school.
The donation will be used to build the school’s “Science Hall”, which is devided three functions. First, it is to conduct research on basic science and applied science, and play a leading role in the school’s scientific research, discipline development, and personnel training. The other is to serve as an international academic training center to cultivate international cooperation talents with an international perspective. And the third is to conduct academic exchanges as a large-scale academic lecture hall.
Xu Weilin, the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of Wuhan Textile University, said that the donated funds will help the school to carry out original scientific research, including industry-oriented and market-oriented applied research. More importantly, the donated funds will help cultivate academic talents and contribute scientific research to social and economic development.
